WELCOME!
Agape is a place where you can get assistance in hard times, but more importantly it's a place where you are seen, heard, and loved.

What does that mean? It means your appointment isn't just about picking up items and leaving. You are greeted by name, genuinely asked how you are doing, and celebrated on your birthday with a birthday basket!
You'll begin every appointment with a mentoring session. Please note, this is not professional counseling. Instead, this is time set aside for you to talk to someone who cares, and recieve Christian encouragement.
While there is no religious pressure, we do want to show you the love of Jesus. If you are wanting to turn or return to a Christ-centered life, we are here to help!

HOW DO I BECOME A CLIENT?Come to the center to fill out an application. An appointment will be set as soon as we have an opening! We ask for your patience as this may take up to a month or so if we have a waiting list.
-
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?You will have an appointment scheduled once a month, every month until you no longer need our services. Each appointment can take up to 1.5 hours. This includes: 1. Session with your Mentor 2. Shopping for clothing items 3. Shopping for hygiene & cleaning items 4. Shopping for food 5. Items will be delivered to your car
-
CAN I GET FINANCIAL AID?Please note, we offer no financial assistance of any kind. We are not equipped for emergencies or drop-ins. Services are by appointment only. Our services are based on donations, and because of this, specific item availability is not guaranteed.

WHAT IF I CAN'T MAKE MY APPOINTMENT?If you know you cannot make your appointment, please call at least 24 hours in advance to let us know so we can see another person who needs our help. Each appointment is important to us because we can help our clients with prayer, encouragement, food, clothing, and more. Unfortunately, we have a waiting list for new clients since we are at full capacity. Due to the high number of clients not showing up for their appointments, we have had to implement a policy to help serve others who need our assistance. If you miss TWO (2) appointments (no-show or cancellation), we will place you back on the waiting list, allowing new clients to begin receiving our help. You will be worked back into the schedule as time permits. Although we understand that unplanned circumstances come up, we must be fair to everyone. Thank you for understanding and making every effort to show up for your appointments!
-
HOW DO I CALL TO RESCHEDULE?Please call (434) 846-2783 and leave a clear, brief voice message with your name and phone number. Since we are not at the center every day, someone will get back to you on a day that we are open.

WHAT IS A STATE REPORTING POLICY?Our staff are not trained as counselors, nor do we offer professional counseling. Our mentors rely upon the Word of God to provide Biblical instruction and encouragement to those who come to the Agape Center. It is important that you be aware that, as Agape Center staff, we are not exempt from state and federal laws. We are required to report any situation or individual who shares with us information concerning the following: 1. Child abuse 2. The intent to do physical harm to another person 3. The desire to physically harm oneself Should you disclose this type of information at any time while at the Agape Center, we are required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities or see that you do. We require, for our protection and yours, that you sign in the space provided on the back of the client application indicating your understanding of our legal responsibility to report both child abuse and the intent to commit physical harm to yourself or another person.
